If there’s one thing you really need to know about dental implants, it’s that they’re our speciality. After all, we’re not called Aurora Dental and Implant Clinics for nothing. Thanks to the expertise of Carl Lazzari, who runs Aurora with his lovely wife, Lesley, Aurora is the clinic to beat when it comes to dental implants. There’s no denying that one little dental implant can have a huge impact on someone’s life. Whether it’s a single implant or a set of retained dentures, these things have the potential to make someone happier, more confident and ready to take on the world.
If you have a missing or damaged tooth, a dental implant could be just what you need to feel like yourself again. Have we piqued your interest? Well, you’re in the right place, keep reading to find out more.
As we mentioned earlier, if you’ve damaged or lost a tooth recently and you’re feeling self-conscious about your smile, dental implants are just what you need to get your teeth back on track. Prior to having your implants fitted, you’ll need to attend a consultation to ensure your mouth and jaw are in good overall health. There are very few things that have the potential to derail your implant plans and we’re going to run through a few of them now.
Generally, adults tend to be first in line for dental implants. Younger people, especially those under the age of eighteen, will need to wait a few years before the procedure can take place. In order to get a dental implant, your jaw needs to be fully developed.
Even if your jaw is strong enough to support an implant, there are still factors that you ought to consider. Before you can get a dental implant, your mouth needs to be free of any untreated conditions such as gum disease or tooth decay. If you do have any such conditions, they will need to be treated before you can go ahead with the minor surgical procedure required.
In addition to this, there are some other health conditions that could also rule you out. As long as you have good physical and oral health, you could be on your way to smiling your brightest, widest smile again!
We have two types of implant on offer – single implants and implant retained dentures. Maybe you’re just missing one tooth? Should that be the case, a single implant is the one for you. Missing several teeth in the same location? You’ll need an implant retained denture. Simple! Just in case you’re wondering, dental implants are definitely different to dental bridges. Implants don’t rely on neighbouring teeth to support them, which makes them a much stronger, longer-lasting option. With proper care, your dental implant could last for decades – how great does that sound?
Implant retained dentures are an alternative to traditional dentures. As well as being a more cost-effective option, they’re also hassle-free. If you’ve ever had traditional dentures, you know just how annoying they can be. Whether they’re sliding out of place or needing to be cleaned every night, keeping up with denture maintenance can be difficult and we want to help make your life as easy as possible.
As we mentioned earlier, in order to get your very own dental implant, you need to have a strong jaw. Why, you ask? That’s because the implant needs to be secured to your jawbone. After a small procedure in which we’ll fit a small metal post to your jawbone, this will need to heal before we can fit the tooth part of your implant. This can take between 3-6 months.
If you’re just getting a single implant, a crown will be fitted as soon as your implant has healed. Implant retained dentures will require you to stick with us for a bit longer, but it’ll be worth it. A mould of your teeth will be taken to make sure your dentures are perfect for you. Once they have been made, they will be able to clip on to your implant and you’ll be on your way.
We assure you there’s no need to be worried about undergoing any part of this process, and we guarantee you’ll feel much better after a consultation with Carl. There’s nothing he loves more than ensuring that his patients feel safe and comfortable at all times. Carl’s renowned for making even his most nervous patients look forward to their visits. We assure you, there’s no need to fret when it comes to your treatment with Aurora Dental and Implant Clinics.
