Patients of all ages walk into our clinics searching for a way to fill in the gaps left by lost teeth. Dental implants provide a remarkably sturdy foundation for replacement teeth and they might be suitable for you. At Aurora Dental & Implant Clinics, we offer various dental implant options to meet the needs of different patients, sending them on their way with a dazzling smile!

Who Needs Dental Implants?

Dental implants are an excellent solution for those missing a tooth or wanting to get a replacement after its extraction. Cosmetically, implants do a great job of restoring your smile and boosting your self-confidence, making them the perfect solution if you have been left with a gap in your otherwise lovely grin.

However, missing teeth can pose more serious health-related problems as time goes by. Without a replacement, you could experience pain and increased sensitivity while eating. Problematically, it’s this very action of chewing that stops your jawbone from deteriorating. Dental implants are safer, as they look and behave like normal teeth whilst providing strength and stability, leaving you to chew your favourite foods without fear.

What Are Aurora’s Dental Implant Options?

Our first of our dental implant options is a single implant, which involves a type of screw that is surgically fitted into the jawbone. After 3-4 months, a crown (a replacement for the visible tooth) will be inserted seamlessly into the gap. Although it takes time for the mouth to heal before the replacement can be fitted, single implants can last for over a decade with the proper care, making them a long-term investment.

However, consecutive missing teeth require a different response. The second of our dental implant options, implant retained dentures, works by fixing a minimum of four screws to the jaw and then scanning your mouth to create a crown that looks exactly like your missing teeth. Alternatively, you could have an implant retained bridge, which inserts two or more titanium roots into the jawbone and attaches a bridge of crowns to fill the gap.

Don’t worry if you’re unsure of which implants you should have; a consultation with our experts will determine the best route for you and your teeth.

What Can You Expect From The Treatment Procedure?

The thought of a surgical dental procedure can make even the bravest patient feel a little uneasy, which is why we begin with a complimentary virtual consultation held by Layla, our Treatment Coordinator. She will answer any questions you may have and make sure you feel informed and comfortable. Afterwards, our renowned in-house Dental Implantologist, Dr Carl Lazzari, will assess your suitability for the different dental implants. Dr Lazzari’s gentle manner and reassuring presence encourage his patients to no longer fear the dentist and they return to us time and time again.

The actual procedure takes place under local anaesthetic to ensure your comfort, as implants are carefully inserted. It then takes approximately 6-12 weeks of healing for the bone to fuse around the screw, after which a replacement tooth will be fitted, for a reliable and undetectable addition to your smile!
