Aurora Dental and Implant Clinic
A good dental hygiene routine is ideally established during childhood.
At Aurora Dental and Implant Clinics, we aim to provide a positive experience to all of our young patients. That’s why we believe in proactively welcoming children into our clinics and organically laying the foundations for lifelong oral health.
When should I schedule my child’s first dental appointment?
We recommend scheduling your child’s first dental appointment once their milk teeth have come through. Generally, this will be when they are around six months of age.
As a parent, what can I do to help support my child’s oral health?
Establishing a good dental hygiene routine with your child will equip them with the necessary skills for maintaining their oral health. Teaching your child how to properly brush their teeth is especially important and you should begin gently brushing for them when their milk teeth appear. Once they can brush for themselves, you may supervise their practices to make sure they are brushing correctly.
Aim to use a fluoride toothpaste, encouraging your child to brush gently for at least two minutes. For the fluoride to be effective, your child should then spit rather than rinse.
What if my child is scared of visiting the dentist?
It is important to reassure your child prior to visiting our clinics and to approach the appointment with positivity to help minimise any nerves.
As some of our team are parents themselves, they fully understand the anxieties a child may have about a trip to the dentist. To put your mind at ease, you can rest assured that our dental professionals will provide a warm and friendly welcome, responding to any questions your child may have and encouraging relaxation throughout the consultation.
Each of our team members has plenty of experience in guiding younger patients through their treatments and will always conduct themselves in a friendly, patient-centred way.
