Aurora Dental Clinic
Invisalign® teeth straightening in Chippenham, Corsham, Swindon and Devizes
Thanks to its almost invisible aligners, Invisalign® is a subtle yet effective way of repositioning teeth and improving your smile without the use of traditional braces.
How does Invisalign® compare to traditional braces?
Traditional braces use fixed metal brackets and wires to straighten teeth over a period of several months. The wires are tightened periodically, which slowly forces the teeth to move over time. In contrast, Invisalign® uses aligners that are incredibly light and completely clear, making them almost impossible to see. Invisalign® allows for comfortable, discreet and effective treatment whilst causing minimal disruption to your life.
Invisalign® can be used for more than simply straightening teeth too. It treats a number of concerns, including gap teeth, an open bite, and some types of an overbite, underbite or crossbite issues. If you’re unsure as to whether Invisalign® is right for you, you can speak to one of our dentists who will be able to answer your questions and let you know if it’s the right treatment for you.
What are the benefits of Invisalign®?
The main advantage of Invisalign® is its subtlety. Traditional braces have a tendency to stick out like a sore thumb and feel large in the mouth whereas Invisalign® aligners are hardly noticeable. They’re also much lighter than other teeth straightening treatments, making them more comfortable to wear.
In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, Invisalign® aligners are easy to clean and maintain, so carrying on with your daily activities isn’t an issue.
What will happen at my appointment for Invisalign with Aurora Dental Clinic
You can book in for an Invisalign® consultation with one of our highly-trained team at your local practice in Chippenham, Corsham, Swindon or Devizes where your dentist will confirm your eligibility for the treatment. If your dentist deems that Invisalign® is right for you, we will create a treatment plan, taking photos, x-rays, and digital scans of your teeth.
From there, you will receive a series of custom-made aligners that you will need to wear every day, and change at home (around every one to two weeks). The length of treatment will vary depending on the individual, but it typically takes around 9-18 months in total for Invisalign to straighten your teeth and help you achieve your perfect smile.

FAQs
Invisalign® has been designed with your comfort in mind. The aligners will apply pressure to your teeth to gradually shift them into the desired place. As a result, you might feel some discomfort but it is likely to be minimal and manageable. On average, you’ll need to wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, leaving you with plenty of time to take them out to eat and drink.
You are extremely unlikely to be offered Invisalign braces on the NHS. NHS treatment, regardless of age, is usually carried out using traditional metal braces.
Patients who have dental implants or dental bridges will need to make sure they are eligible, as well as patients who have oral conditions that require surgery to fix. Invisalign can be suited for those with implants too in some cases. Those suffering from gum disease are not eligible, however providing you receive treatment for this beforehand you may also be suitable.
